Today (September 13), Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct stream that discussed such games as MinecraftPokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra MoonMario Party: The Top 100 and Super Mario Odyssey, among many others. Also discussed during the stream were two upcoming games in the Kirby franchise, one of which is coming to the 3DS and the other to the Switch.

Kirby: Battle Royale was announced during the 3DS portion of the stream. The game is a party game, reminiscent of games like Mario Party, with ten different battle modes. The game can be played with friends through both online and local wireless communication. However, it will also have a single-player story mode for those of you who prefer to play alone (no judgment; I’m one of those people myself). The game is coming to the 3DS on January 19, 2018. The reveal trailer is below.

Also discussed was the upcoming Kirby game for the Switch that was announced at this year’s E3. In the stream, the game’s official title was revealed as Kirby: Star Allies. As one could guess from the title, a main mechanic in the game is creating allies, which can be done by throwing hearts at enemies. Once an enemy is an ally, you can use whatever power you have and combine it with an ally’s power to create a fusion power of some kind. This resembles the power fusion mechanic introduced in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, which is a mechanic we haven’t seen much of since. This game is set to release sometime in the spring of 2018.
