Sega has revealed during a livestream the first gameplay footage of Valkyria Chronicles 4, one of the most anticipated sequels of 2018 that will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The footage includes a regular trailer offering a summary of the main new features, a long gameplay video showcasing two full missions from the main game, and a short preview of the bonus chapter involving the cast of the original game for PS3 and PS4.
Valkyria Chronicles is a turn-based strategy game set in a fictional version of World War II. This fourth chapter is set in the Eastern region of the world, which is often affected by snow and cold climate. This will have direct consequences in battles, like the speed of move and even some avalanches that could transform the landscape.
Other changes include the introduction of a brand new job class named grenadier, which are now revealed to be active during enemies’ turns. That means they will automatically attack a rival soldier if they get in their line of vision, although the same will happen to us if we get too close to a grenadier from the enemy team.
We can also take a look at the Snow Cruiser Centurion, the military boat that will be able to assists us in battle by sending extra help and allowing us to perform new orders, expanding the system of the original game.
You can take a look at all of these new features and some new ones in the video in Japanese below. The trailer starts at 43:52, the gameplay footage at 1:45:51, and the preview of the DLC ‘Joint Operation with Squad 7’ at 2:38:23.
