Fans of Sonic the Hedgehog might have a chance to play to a board game version of their favourite games if creators Shinobi 7 are successful in their funding campaign recently launched on Kickstarter. Their product is called Sonic the Hedgehog: Battle Racers, and is a Sega-approved board game representation of the classic adventures seen on the videogames, only adapted as a competitive race between five characters in which they need to collect as many rings as possible, avoid possible traps, and eliminate any Badniks they find in their way.

The game includes boss fights and interchanging stage sections, so that every session feels unique for the players. And Shinobi 7 have made a good job at recreating the iconic characters and environments of the franchise, with a series of colored figurines depicting Sonic, Amy, Knuckles, Tails, and Dr. Eggman, and others representing enemies like buzz bombers or moto pugs.

By this point the campaign has covered more than $16.000 out of the $50.000 necessary to develop the project, and fans can choose to contribute with a minimum of $50 which serves as a purchase of the game without the stretch goal items, an intermediate option of $100, or a maximum of $150, which provides pledgers with the base game and all extra content, including a wide selection of miniatures and the Metal Sonic Mechanical Madness, Infinite Metropolis, and Vector Large Racer expansions.

Other videogame-inspired board games have successfully seek funding through Kickstarter, like the successful Resident Evil 2 Board Game.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Battle Racers aims to launch in October 2018. To support the project, visit the Kickstarter page.
