The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is Set in the Life is Strange Universe

During today’s Xbox E3 presentation, a number of games were revealed. One such game was The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, a new narrative adventure developed by DONTNOD and published by Square Enix. Interestingly enough, this game will be set in the same universe as DONTNOD’s hit Life is Strange.

Many Life is Strange fans likely remember DONTNOD announcing last year that they are working on a new game in the series. However, Captain Spirit, despite taking place in the same world, is not that new game in the series. Not exactly, anyways. Instead, DONTNOD explains that Captain Spirit is a standalone narrative that’s more of an introduction to the next Life is Strange game, which is still on its way. However, the connections between The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit and the next Life is Strange may not be entirely clear at first, and it will apparently be “structurally different to previous entries.”

The Awesome Adventure of Captain Spirit will be released later this month on June 26 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC and will be free. The game will see players controlling a 10-year-old boy named Chris who has a big imagination and wants to be a superhero. One Saturday, “something truly extraordinary” happens to him. You can watch the game’s announcement trailer below.
