Recently, Mewtwo became available in Pokémon GO‘s normal Raid Battles, after being exclusive to EX Raid Battles previously. To coincide with this, Niantic has decided to make Psychic-types in general more accessible.
It was recently announced that a new event is set to take place in Pokémon GO soon called the Psychic Spectacular. The event will start tomorrow (October 5) at 1:00pm PST/4:00pm EST and will end on October 14 at 1:00pm PST/4:00pm EST. During this time period, Psychic-type Pokémon will appear more frequently than usual and more Field Research dealing specifically with Psychic-types will become available. Additionally, there will also be a chance for players to encounter shiny Drowzees. Below is a full list of Psychic-type Pokémon currently available in Pokémon GO that are likely to receive increased spawn rates during this event:
- Abra
- Kadabra
- Alakazam
- Slowpoke
- Slowbro
- Drowzee
- Hypno
- Exeggcute
- Exeggutor
- Starmie
- Mr. Mime (exclusive to Europe)
- Jynx
- Natu
- Xatu
- Espeon

- Unown
- Wobbuffet
- Girafarig
- Ralts
- Kirlia
- Gardevoir

- Solrock (exclusive to Europe, Asia, and Oceania)
- Baltoy

- Metagross
It may also be worth mentioning that while both Smoochum and Wynaut are both Psychic-types, they can only be found in Eggs, not in the wild, so the increased Psychic-type spawn rate likely won’t affect players’ chances of hatching them. Also, Alolan Raichu is Psychic-type, but so far has only appeared as a Raid Boss, rather than in the wild, so it is also unlikely to be affected by the increased spawn rate of this event.
