Starting March 15th and going until March 18th Rayquaza will be returning to Legendary Raids in Pokemon GO. The ever-popular dragon type character has been highly anticipated for an event like this, and Niantic finally made the announcement earlier today. The special weekend will begin at 1pm Pacific Time on Friday the 15th and end at 1pm PT on the following Monday.

One thing to note is that the announcement did not make special mention of a possible shiny Rayquaza as part of this weekend. Normally events like this mark the launch of shiny versions of these Legendary Pokemon. Unfortunately, the absence seems intentional as it has been confirmed that he will not be available in his shiny form.

Shiny Rayquaza is many trainer’s most anticipated release, featuring one of the more unique and interesting color modifications. It seems that fans will just have to keep waiting though, with the possibility of shiny Rayquaza being released for a later event.

Either way, if you missed out on Rayquaza, need more candy, or just want to get into some Legendary Raids, this will be the event for you. Check it out on March 15th and check back for tips on how to beat the powerful dragon when it gets closer.
