Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn has arrived in Genshin Impact as a free reward for all players. To obtain Aloy, the Savior From Another World, all you have to do is log in at the right time on the right platform. Genshin Impact has had crossovers in the past, but this collaboration with PlayStation is the biggest one yet. Aloy is a free 5-Star Cryo character, so she’ll fit right in with most people’s team compositions. Here’s how to get Aloy in Genshin Impact.
How to Get Aloy in Genshin Impact
To get Aloy, all you have to do is log into the game and check your mail. She can be claimed from the in-game mailbox just like any other event reward. However, you have to be at least Adventure Rank 20 in order to claim her. Aloy is currently only available for Genshin Impact players on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. She will become available for PC and mobile players after the release of Genshin Impact version 2.2.
Once she arrives on PC and mobile, the process will be the same. If you’re a PlayStation player and you miss out on Aloy during the 2.1 update, you can still get her after the 2.2 update releases. It looks like Aloy won’t be available at all after the 2.3 update, however, but we’ll update this article once MiHoYo clears things up. Genshin Impact characters return on rerun banners all the time, so maybe Aloy could come back in a future update.
Aloy is a 5-Star character, so she should be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Genshin Impact’s strongest teams. She’s a Cryo character, which gives her plenty of utility in many different team compositions. Her elemental attack is called Frozen Wilds, and she tosses an explosive freeze bomb that explodes on contact. Enemies damaged by the freeze bomb will have reduced damage, and Aloy will gain one coil stack. Upon reaching four coil stacks, she enters Rushing Ice mode which converts all her normal attacks into Cryo attacks.
Her elemental burst is called Prophecies of Dawn, which throws a Cryo-filled container that Aloy detonates with a well-placed arrow. It’s a nice callback to Horizon Zero Dawn, where Aloy uses her bow to target specific parts of enemies.
Aloy’s passive talents make her a great addition to any team as well. Her first talent is called Easy Does It, which prevents party members from startling small animals. This should make hunting much easier. Combat Override is her second talent, and it increases her attack by 16% when she receives a coil stack from her Frozen Wilds elemental attack. Aloy’s party members will also receive an attack boost of 8% for 10 seconds when this is active.
Finally, her third talent is Strong Strike. This increases Aloy’s Cryo damage bonus by 3.5% every second when she is in her Rushing Ice state. You can gain up to a maximum of 35% bonus Cryo damage using this talent.
Aloy arrives alongside Genshin Impact version 2.1, which is the first substantial update since the launch of version 2.0 in July. This update adds an all-new fishing mechanic, brings the Inazuma Archon storyline to a close, and adds several new characters. One of these characters is the highly-anticipated Raiden Shogun, Baal, who is a 5-Star Electro character featured on a new banner alongside Kujou Sara, another newcomer.
Genshin Impact is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices.
