Far Cry 6: Reptile Metabolism Explained

Recommended Videos

When playing Far Cry 6, you may have noticed the phrase “Reptile Metabolism” pop up on your screen every now and then for seemingly no reason. It has a tracker counting up to 50, but what is it counting? There’s actually a really simple explanation for this, and it has to do with the game’s Amigo system. It’s not tracking something that you’re doing; it’s counting something that one of your allies is doing. Here’s what you need to know about Reptile Metabolism in Far Cry 6.

What is Reptile Metabolism in Far Cry 6?

Reptile Metabolism is one of Guapo the crocodile’s abilities. In Far Cry 6, Amigos unlock new abilities by performing certain actions in combat, and Guapo’s Reptile Metabolism ability is unlocked once he eliminates 50 targets. Since Guapo is a crocodile, he tends to chomp anything he comes across, so you may earn progress without even realizing it if Guapo eats a fish or other animal while you’re exploring.

Of course, you can also fast-tracking the unlock process for Reptile Metabolism by giving Guapo commands during combat by pressing right on the D-Pad. All enemies and wildlife count for this ability though, so you can unlock it without realizing it if you let Guapo do his own thing. He’ll typically earn one or two points toward unlocking the ability while you’re swimming since he’s well-versed when it comes to aquatic hunting.

Once unlocked, Reptile Metabolism will boost Guapo’s normal abilities even further. Guapo’s unique trait is that he can auto-revive during combat without your assistance, but he only comes back with about half of his health. If you have the ability unlocked, Guapo will auto-revive with a whopping 90% of his health restored. This ability makes Guapo an absolute powerhouse during combat, essentially letting him draw most of the fire away from you during shootouts. It’s a useful skill, so make sure to utilize Guapo during combat as frequently as possible if you want to unlock it.

Far Cry 6 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna.
