Fortnite Season 8 has been one of the weirdest in recent memory for the battle royale giant, and that’s saying something when you consider some of the craziness that has gone down in the game prior. Now in Season 8, one of the strangest areas added to the game is a unique area called The Sideways. In this area, you cannot build and will face off against bizarre-looking creatures. In order to access The Sideways, there is a large marking on the map you can go through. In addition, there are random spawns that happen when you approach purple rifts on the map as well. Once there, you have an opportunity to acquire a unique weapon. Here’s how to get the Sideways Scythe in Fortnite.
How to Get The Sideways Scythe in Fortnite
The Sideways Scythe is not a one-type weapon, but rather one that comes in five different rarities. The type of Sideways Scythe you get will determine how much damage it comes. You can get everything from a Grey one to an Orange type in rarity.
Once you’re inside The Sideways, you can find this weapon on the floor as loot or if you look inside a Sideways Chest. These chests can be found inside Sideways Anomalies on your map. The third way they can be acquired is through fighting and killing the new Caretaker boss. This is the least recommended way to get them, but it does have the highest chance of being a better quality Sideways Scythe than the others.
Depending on the type you get, your Sideways Scythe will do anywhere from 40 to 46 damage, but the big bones of this weapon come once you eliminate someone. Every time you eliminate someone, you will gain your health back while using the Sideways Scythe.
If you get a low-quality Sideways Scythe, you can still upgrade it in the crafting menu as you would with your normal guns. In order to upgrade, you will need 12 Cube Monster pars to upgrade to blue, 20 to upgrade to purple, 25 to upgrade to orange, and 50 to upgrade to gold. This is a less conventional but just as viable way to get a good quality Sideways Scythe.
Season 8 has been an exciting one for Fortnite and with even more planned down the line, the hype should only get greater as Fortnite is expanding more than ever in its gameplay and with every crossover and release they come out with, the game just gets better and better.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, IOS, and Android devices.
