The trio of Frieren, Fern, and Stark pass through a town celebrating the Liberation Festival to reach Graf Granat’s domain where Aura the Guillotine has sent a peace envoy of demons. Frieren immediately tries to attack them and gets thrown into the town’s dungeons as a result. 

When Fern and Stark visit her, she insists that demons only speak human language to deceive humans. This is proven true when we see the demons speak amongst themselves, revealing their plan to deceive Graf Granat into lowering the town’s defenses. Believing Frieren to be the only threat to their plan, one of the demons Draht decides to kill her.

Episode 8, “Frieren the Slayer, ” will witness a much-anticipated fight between Frieren and Draht. Given the former’s status as a legendary mage, she is likely to win. But what really hangs in the balance is the town’s fate.
