Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Should Bring Back Classic Spec Ops From 2009

Recommended Videos

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is making the rounds across the internet after the reveal and fans are excited by everything the game looks set to offer us all. There will certainly be a lot for players to work their way through upon the release of the experience. However, as with any new reveal, fans are theorizing and hoping for particular modes, characters, maps, and more to see their return with the latest game. One such mode that we think should make a return is the classic Spec Ops mode from 2009. This article will explain why we think Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 should have Spec Ops Missions.

Should Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Have A Spec Ops Mode?

With the Spec Ops making their appearance in the first Modern Warfare 2, it would be a perfect opportunity to have them return with the new experience. Their combat sequences and overall mission structure were always excellent and going through them was always a thrill for players.

As can be observed in the video above, they are a joy to watch and of course, play through when you get the chance to. With the next installment of the series, the missions could be created anew and have unique experiences to once again re-invigorate the joy of the mode. Bringing the mode back to its roots through missions similar to these would be an excellent inclusion for the new game releasing later this year.

Benefits of Spec Ops Making a Return In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

There are many benefits that would arise from having the Spec Ops mode return, one of which would be that there would be a lot of attention centered on the mode. The nostalgia that runs through the Call of Duty franchise for fans may be said by some to be almost unparalleled with other FPS games/franchises on the market. Having a fan-favorite mode return in this style would certainly have players flocking to the game like moths to a flame.

Furthermore, there is a lot of opportunity for continuing updates and DLC for Spec Ops. Imagine new missions being released for free on a regular basis, it would be a content goldmine for the studio and players as a whole. How about even having a way that players could create their own Spec Ops missions for sharing and playing akin to how the map editor works within some of the Far Cry games. There is an abundance of potential for the Spec Ops mode.

Who knows, there may even be an inclusion of the mode in the upcoming beta, that would be quite the surprise for fans indeed!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release on October 28th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
