While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare acts as a reboot for the series, dropping a lot of the extra mechanics that were piled up over the intervening years, it also adds some new stuff of its own. Easily one of the best and biggest changes is the ability to lean across all platforms. This mechanics has players mount their weapon onto any nearby surface, allowing you to stay in cover while firing at your enemies. Here’s how to lean or mount weapon in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
How to Lean (Mount Weapon)
The mechanic is simple enough, once you know the basics of how it works. Basically any flat surface is available for weapon mounting. All you need to do is get near it. With the typical form of cover, that of chest high walls, that means getting behind it in a crouched position. Alternatively you can look for walls or doorways that would work well for leaning around. Whatever the surface is, if you’re near it you should see a tiny grey indicator showing that you can use it to weapon mount and lean.
Once you’ve found your spot and gotten into the right position just aim-down sights (ADS) by holding the left trigger then press the melee button to mount. This should be L3 or clicking the left thumbstick, but options can be changed so just be sure you use the right one. Once you click or press it you should snap to the surface. Keep holding ADS and you’ll stay on there and can move around, firing at will.
That’s how to lean or mount weapon in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It’s a simple mechanic, but it really opens up the tactical options for players who prefer to stick to cover and work more strategically.
