Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – How to Play Hardcore Modes

A staple of Call of Duty has been hardcore modes over the years.  While these game modes aren’t up front and center in this year’s game, they are there if you dig deep enough.  Hardcore mode offers a limited HUD, lower health and friendly fire is enabled.  To play Hardcore Mode in Modern Warfare you can head into the Multiplayer option to start.

Make sure to change the Selected Category at the top of the Quick Play Filter

From the multiplayer menu you can head into the Quick Play section and then select the filter to the right.  Upon opening the filter you will have a list of standard game modes by default.  What you will need to do here is press the Square Button (PlayStation) or X Button (Xbox).  This will change the selected category of the games from Standard to Hardcore.

You’ll know you’re on the right page when you see the available games have an “HC” in front of the name.  Currently, the Quick Play playlist for Hardcore Modes have Hardcore Team Deathmatch, Hardcore Cyber Attack, Hardcore Domination, Hardcore Search and Destroy, and Hardcore Headquarters.

All of the other starting rules are the same in Hardcore modes by default, with things like match time, score limit, and party size the same as standard.  The thing you’ll notice is that the TTK is much lower in Hardcore modes.
