Death Stranding Director’s Cut features a handful of new story missions, but it’s not entirely clear how to access the new content. The Director’s Cut includes new “action-packed” delivery missions which are a huge change of pace from the standard missions. These deliveries are a callback to Metal Gear Solid, and while they’re not quite as in-depth as a traditional stealth title, they’re still a ton of fun. Here’s how to start the new story missions in Death Stranding Director’s Cut.
How to Start New Story Missions in Death Stranding Director’s Cut
The first of the new missions is unlocked quite early in the game. After completing Request 7 and Request 8, you will unlock Request 77. This is the first new mission in Death Stranding Director’s Cut. You can start it at the Distribution Center West of Capital Knot City. This mission will send you to a new area called the Ruined Factory, which is located on the hill overlooking Capitol Knot City.
You won’t be able to get inside the factory during the first delivery, however. Your first task will be to reach a delivery terminal just outside the facility. After taking out a group of Mules and recovering the package, you can move on to the next delivery as long as you’re far enough in the game.
If you’re just starting out on a new save file, then you’ll have to wait until later in the game before you can continue the factory questline. If you transferred a completed save from the PS4 version, then you can do all the factory deliveries back to back. Each delivery sends you further into the factory, and you’ll be treated to new songs as you trek back and forth between the factory and distribution center.
The ruined factory storyline is fairly short, but it’s a breath of fresh air compared to the other slow-paced deliveries the game has to offer. If you enjoy the combat-centric nature of these missions and want to test your combat skill further, then you can visit the new firing range added to the game in the Director’s Cut. There, you can take on trials akin to the VR Missions from Metal Gear Solid.
