Fallout 4 will be getting its fifth and penultimate DLC expansion today with Fallout 4: Vault-Tec Worshop. The new DLC puts players in control of their very own Vault-Tec vault, allowing them to build an underground bunker and run tests on its inhabitants. But to do all of that you’ll need to start the very first mission of the DLC, so here’s how to start the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC in Fallout 4.
If you’re a high enough level you should have the mission pop up immediately upon starting Fallout 4 after downloading the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC. This mission is called Vault-Tec Calling, and has you tune into a new radio station named “Vault 88 Radio Beacon”. One thing to note: if you are currently in Far Harbor this mission will not show up. Fast travel back to the Commonwealth and it should appear on your screen. Whether this pops up for you or not, you need to get to Vault 88 to start the full mission line that this DLC offers.
Vault 88 is found deep inside of Quincy Quarries. This is very far to the south, just below Jamaica Plain and to the west of Quincy Ruins. Fast travel to the nearest spot and head toward Quincy Quarries, but be prepared for a fight. The quarry has been inhabited by a bunch of raiders, and you’ll have to fight through them. Just keep heading down and near the bottom you should find a hallway that leads back into the rock. There you will find the entrance to Vault 88. Even at lower levels I believe this will trigger the full DLC to open up for you (let me know in the comments if it doesn’t happen this way).
Once you fight off the raiders that are storming the gate, you can activate the nearby panel to open Vault 88. Inside you’ll find Overseer Barstow, and begin your new life with Vault-Tec.
