FFXIV: How to Learn Level 5 Death for Blue Mage

Recommended Videos

The Blue Mage job in Final Fantasy XIV is a very odd job. To get Blue Mage spells, you must learn them from enemies. Of course, the enemies won’t just teach them to you, so you must be hit by the spell you wish to learn. One of the many spells Blue Mage can learn is called “Level 5 Death”, and since it is an instant kill AOE it’s no wonder why it is sought after. In this guide, we will cover where you can learn Level 5 Death.

What enemy teaches Level 5 Death

In order to obtain the spell, we need to find the enemy that uses it. The enemy we are looking for is the Page 64 enemy in The Great Gubal Library dungeon. In order to find this enemy, you will need to clear the dungeon like normal through the first boss. After killing the Demon Tome, you will need to fight the next pack of mobs you see ahead and keep going. As you are walking down the hallway after killing the mobs, a large book will fall at the end of the hall. This book is the Page 64 mob.

Once you are fighting Page 64 you will need to stand close to it in order to make it use Level 5 Death. If you are having trouble getting Page 64 to cast the spell, make sure the mob is not tethered to anyone and have them step away if it is. As with all Blue Mage spells, you may not get Level 5 Death on your first try. As long as you do not kill Page 64 you can keep trying until you get the spell.

Once acquired by a Blue Mage, Level 5 Death works a bit differently than the enemies version. For starters, the spell has a very low hit chance. Even if the spell does hit it will only affect enemies whose level is a multiple of 5. You also can’t use this spell on enemies that are at a higher level than you.
