Fortnite – How to Dive

In Fortnite Chapter 2 players can now dive and swim in the water.  The new swimming and diving mechanics are pretty self-explanatory but if you’re having trouble mastering the dive move this guide will explain exactly what you need to do.

Diving makes you swim faster and harder to hit

To swim in Fortnite you simply need to walk into any water area.  Once in the water you will start swimming.  Diving acts a sort of speed boost while in the water as you can press the dive button to go a little bit faster as your player dives under the water.  The move can be used to also dive in and out of the water to make you a little bit harder to hit.

Diving while swimming is done by pressing the jump button.  This is the X button (PlayStation) or the A Button (Xbox) or whatever key you have assigned for the jump button on PC.  When successful you will see your character jump up into the air out of the water a little bit and then dive under and start to swim much faster.

Diving can’t be done while still in the water only when swimming in a direction.
