Grand Unifier Raker in Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy: Grand Unifier Raker Boss Guide

Recommended Videos

Chapter 15 of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy sees the Guardians face off against Grand Unifier Raker, the leader of the Universal Church of Truth. In this guide, we will detail how to defeat Grand Unifier Raker in Guardians of the Galaxy and hopefully save the galaxy.

How to beat Grand Unifier Raker in Guardians of the Galaxy

Raker will have a shield around him throughout the fight and the yellow glow overlaying health-bar in the top right of the screen will indicate how much of said shield is left. Damage him enough and his shield will dissipate, allowing you to deal actual damage. Once his shield is down, root him down with Groot and hit him with everything you’ve got because he won’t stay shieldless for long. The purple abilities are great for this, especially Drax’s You can also command the Guardians of the Galaxy to use the environment to damage him, too, but we recommend using that to take down his shield.

Raker will impair your vision with darkness at random intervals: avoid his attacks indicated with warning triangles and simply wait until you can see clearly again. Don’t forget to avoid his attacks in the light, too. Vertical bolts of energy need to be either dodged or shot before they reach you. If you do get hit, you’ll be temporarily stunned. Raker will also bombard the stage with energy and where he will hit is indicated on the floor. Don’t walk into these and you’ll be golden – excuse the pun. Finally, Grand Unifier Raker will also throw direct energy bolts or charge himself at you with a spear, both of which need to be dodged with your jet boots.

Your team members will become frozen and likely die, so attend to them when it’s safe to do so. Huddle if you need to. If you get frozen, mash the button on-screen to break free. Your fellow Guardians will also get trapped by Raker, which can be amended by blasting him until the color in the icon above his head runs out. The bolts of energy can also trap your team members but can be defeated in the same way. If you get trapped by a wall of light, double jump and move out of it.

When enough of his health is gone, a button prompt will appear above Raker’s head. Press it and you’ve beaten Grand Unifier Raker in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy! The ‘Faithless’ achievement/trophy is now yours. There’s a little something to do after this, but we won’t spoil what it is. You can find our guide on that here.
