How to Get Event Tornadus/Thundurus in Pokémon (Ultra) Sun/(Ultra) Moon

Pokémon‘s Legendary Year continues, and this month players will have the chance to get the Generation V Legendaries Tornadus and Thundurus. The method for getting these Legendaries and when they will be attainable varies by region. If you live in North America (but not Canada), you will be able to get a code for this month’s Legendary from Target stores between July 13 and July 28. If you live in Canada, you will receive your code from this month’s official Pokémon Trainer Club newsletter. Once you have your code, follow the following steps:

• Start up your Sun, Ultra Sun, Moon or Ultra Moon game and select “Mystery Gift” from the main menu instead of “Continue.”
• From the Mystery Gift menu, select “Receive Gift.”
• Select “Get with Code/Password,” then, when asked about connecting to the internet, select “Yes” and then “Yes” again.
• Enter the code you received from Target or the newsletter.
• Your game will receive Tornadus or Thundurus.
• Now “Continue” your game and talk to the delivery man in the orange and blue shirt, who you can find in any Pokémon Center. He will give you your Tornadus or Thundurus.

If you live in Europe or the Oceania region, you won’t need a code, but will be able to simply receive your monthly Legendary via wi-fi between July 6 and July 22. To receive your Legendary via wi-fi, follow the following steps:

• Start up your Sun, Ultra Sun, Moon or Ultra Moon game and select “Mystery Gift” from the main menu instead of “Continue.”
• From the Mystery Gift menu, select “Receive Gift.”
• Select “Get via Internet,” then, when asked about connecting to the internet, select “Yes.”
• Your game will receive Tornadus or Thundurus.
• Now “Continue” your game and talk to the delivery man in the orange and blue shirt, who you can find in any Pokémon Center. He will give you your Tornadus or Thundurus.

If you live in a region outside of North America or Europe/Oceania, go to pokemonlegendary.com and click on “July Distribution” to find out if you need a code to receive this month’s Legendary, and where you can receive this code if you need one. Once you have received your code, refer to the first set of instructions above to attain your Legendary. If you don’t need a code and can receive your Legendary through wi-fi, refer to the second set of instructions above.

If you are playing Pokémon Sun, Mystery Gift will give you a Thundurus on level 60 that knows Discharge, Crunch, Charge and Nasty Plot, whereas Ultra Sun players will receive a Thundurus on level 100 that is holding a Gold Bottle Cap and knows the moves Thunderbolt, Focus Blast, Grass Knot and Nasty Plot. Moon players, meanwhile, will receive a Tornadus on level 60 that knows Air Slash, Crunch, Tailwind and Rain Dance and Ultra Moon players will receive a level 100 Tornadus that is holding a Gold Bottle Cap and knows Hurricane, Heat Wave, Grass Knot and Tailwind.

If you are playing Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon and have already caught the Legendary that appears naturally in your game (Tornadus in Ultra Sun and Thundurus in Ultra Moon) and then received the other Legendary through this event, you will be able to encounter the Legendary Landorus.
