Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ big 2.0 update brought a lot of content with it. One item making its return in the update is Gyroids. These little cactus-shaped clay dolls have made an appearance in previous Animal Crossing games. However, in Animal Crossing: New Horizons they have the ability to create music. On top of the ability to sing, you can also customize the gyroids color pallet to fit with whatever house design you are going for.
How to get Gyroids in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Getting your own Gyroids in Animal Crossing is going to take a little bit of time. The first thing you will need to do is take the new mystery tours offered by Kapp’n. These tours will cost you around 1,000 Nook Miles. When going on a tour you will be taken to a random island. These random islands can be in different seasons and different time zones, thus allowing you to get plants, bugs and fish you don’t currently have access to.
While exploring the island you will be looking for x’s as if you are looking for fossils. When digging up these x’s you have a chance of digging up a Gyroid shard. You will need to take this shard with you back to your island. Once on your island, you will need to plant and water the shard. You will know it is watered when the x on the ground starts to steam. Wait for one day and dig the Gyroid shard back up. At this point, it should have grown into a regular Gyroid of random size and shape.
Now you can start to collect all of the different variations of Gyroid. there are many different styles and each style sings differently from the rest. By setting up the gyroids they will give off their own sound. By placing a music player in the same room as the Gyroids they will begin to sing along with whatever music is playing. By setting up several Gyroids in a single room you can make your own orchestra.
It is important to note that you can only find one fragment per island and can only go on the mystery island tour once per day. This means you can only get one Gyroid per day. Learning about Gyroids is needed to unlock Brewster and get your own island cafe. Brewster will also give you a Gyroid shard as you are completing his tasks for him to join your island.
