How to Go Back to Previous Islands in Sonic Frontiers

Sonic Frontiers has a few different large and explorable maps you can find all sorts of things in. At some point in the story’s progression, you will explore the next Starfall Island before you know it. It’s hard to cover all ground going between large areas, so then comes the question. Can you go back to the previous islands in Sonic Frontiers and how so?

How to Go Back to Previous Islands in Sonic Frontiers

You can start traveling to different and previous islands after beating the Titan, Giganto. This is the first major boss you fight in the game located on Kronos Island. You’ll end up in the next major place in the game, Ares Island. Say, you didn’t unlock everything there or need more time to explore, you can still do that.

Traveling between islands will never lock you out of anything in this game. If you haven’t activated all of the side dialogue cutscenes with Amy and Sage, you can do so. You’ll just need to collect any extra hearts/Memory Tokens so you can unlock the ability to do so.

You may also want to travel back to previous islands not only to complete any side quests but also to go fishing with Big the Cat. His inventory is the same in each new locale, but it’s best to buy out as much as you can from each teleporter instance.

Going back to previous islands is also a good idea so you can complete any levels you may have missed along the way. There can be whole areas you may have missed entirely, or even Guardians you skipped over. The experience gained will be transferrable between areas, but Portal Gears and Memory Tokens won’t.

Sonic Frontiers is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
