How to Kill the Warden in Minecraft 1.19

How to Kill the Grand Warden in Minecraft

Recommended Videos

The Minecraft 1.19 update is finally here and with it, the newest mob called Wardens. With so much in Minecraft 1.19, otherwise knowns as Caves and Cliffs, it can be tricky to know where to find Wardens and how to kill them. So, without further adieu, here is everything you need to know about Wardens in Minecraft.

Where to Find Wardens in Minecraft

Before you can kill a Grand Warden, you’ll first need to know where you can find them. Wardens only spawn in Deep Dark caves which are a new addition to Minecraft Caves and Cliffs. Deep Dark is the lowest cave type in the game resting just above bedrock. This is the perfect place for Wardens to hide because they lurk in the shadows and creep up on players. There is also a Warden’s Cabin also located in Deep Dark which is bound to be where the Wardens spawn.

How to Kill Wardens in Minecraft

Now that you know where to find Wardens, you’ll need to know how to kill them when exploring the Deep Dark. This is where it gets tricky because you won’t want to attempt killing a Warden, let alone a Grand Warden. The reason is that Wardens are the strongest mobs in the game. Wardens are taller than Iron Golems and can kill you in two hits if you are wearing full netherite armor. It has been reported that Wardens get faster when you attack them, so the best tactic with Wardens is avoiding and escaping them.

Once you are more comfortable avoiding and escaping Wardens, the best way to kill a Grand Warden is to lure it into an area that has been rigged with explosives and blow them up with it inside. Though it is too early to tell if that will kill it or just make it angrier, it is a good approach to kill a Grand Warden.

How to Avoid Wardens in Minecraft

Wardens are an interesting mob because they are the first to be fully blind, probably due to their dark environment. The monsters have skulk-like sensors on their heads which help them pinpoint vibrations and find their prey. That means that if you move or make noise in Deep Dark, Wardens are likely to come find and attack you. You can sneak past Wardens, but make sure to not attack or get too close to them as they will charge at you. Once they’ve targeted you, their heartbeat will audibly and visibly beat faster and they won’t easily lose your trace.

How to Escape Wardens in Minecraft

So, you shouldn’t try to kill Wardens and you should try to avoid them at all costs. How can you escape from one if they are nearby? The best thing to do with Wardens is to distract them by throwing a snowball or an arrow somewhere else. They will go to the spot where your projectile landed making it safe for you to carry on and escape. Always bring a projectile down to Deep Dark so that you can escape Wardens.
