Injustice 2 How to Turn Off Gear in Online Versus Player Match

Gear is one of the big new features of NetherRealm’s Injustice 2, but if you want to level the playing field and turn off the stat buffs that gear provides in the game you’ll need to follow some simple instructions.

For an Online Player Match it’s a little tricky because you’ll need the cooperation of the person you’re playing against, as you both have to agree to the rule change before the match starts.  So in a player match, before you start the match,  you’ll need to press Square or X to bring up the options screen and then use the bumper button to select turn gear off.

If both players agree then the rule will be in effect, if not, you’ll still have gear stat buffs.  Unfortunately, there is no other way to play without Gear effects online in Injustice 2.  This method will work for any game that you find whether in a lobby or a player versus match.

Lobbies seem to be the best bet to agree to the rules prior to starting.  Otherwise there’s really nothing holding a random matchmade opponent to those rules, and once you progress to the point where you can actually change the rule, you passed the point of quitting without penalty to your record.

Whether you play with Gear stats or without, your character will still have the look that they have when wearing said Gear.  You can follow the same method for turning off Gear buffs in offline versus as well.

Gear stat buffs are turned off by default in a ranked match.
