There are some enemies that just keep making appearances throughout most of the Legend of Zelda franchise and there is no question that the Hinox enemy is one of them. First showing up in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the Hinox made its second appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, so of course its back in the remake on Nintendo Switch. Hinox serves as the mini-boss for the game’s second dungeon, Bottle Grotto, and this guide will explain how you can take it down.
At first thought, you might assume that the tactic to take down Hinox might be similar to the Mobile boss we took down to save BowWow, where we had to wait for it to charge at the wall and attack it when it was knocked out. However, that is not the case here.
Hinox is vulnerable at all times, but you also have to watch out for its attacks as well. The key to beating Hinox is to go up to it and start slashing at it from the side as much as you can. When it appears that Hinox is about to swipe at you, move away and then move back in. Hinox also has a bomb attack it will throw at you that you have to watch out for, so be very careful there.
On top of fighting Hinox itself, you also have to watch out for the floor all around you, as the outer edges can fall through if you stand on them for more than a second or two. Hinox will try to force you to the edges, so be careful as you get closer to them.
