Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening – How To Defeat Spike Roller Mini-Boss

The first dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening has a bit of an interesting setup due to how short it really is. Most dungeons in the series typically feature a mini-boss about midway through the dungeon that rewards you with the dungeon item for beating them. Tail Cave throws a mini-boss at you really just before the actual boss, with you already having your dungeon item in tow with the Roc’s Feather, which you will need in the battle with the Spike Roller.

As you enter the room, you’ll notice a pink creature on the other side of the room with a roller full of spikes between you and them. You need to make sure you have Roc’s Feather equipped to start and be ready to jump over the roller after Spike Roller sends it towards you. Once you jump over it, run up to Spike Roller and start slashing it as much as you can before it moves again.

Continue to do the same process here where you jump over the roller and slash at the mini-boss. Spike Roller doesn’t require too many hits to take down, so it should be beaten in no time. After beating Spike Roller, you’ll notice a big blue spot on the ground appears. This is a warp spot that will warp you from that room to the very first room of the dungeon for easy access.
