Going all the way back to the original The Legend of Zelda on NES, getting your sword has always been one of the first and most important things you do in the series. This is also true with The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake on Nintendo Switch. After awakening far in the home of Marin and Tarin in the tranquil Mabe Village you find that you are lacking what’s certainly the most used item in the game: your sword. You set off to collect it, but where is it and how do you get it back? Here’s a quick guide on how to get the sword in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for Switch.
How to Get the Sword
The answer is to head back to where this journey actually began: on the beach. Back where Link washed up on the shores of Koholint Island you’ll find your sword, but there’s some stuff in your way. Enemies are one thing, you should dodge them if they are giving you any trouble. But there’s also some spike creatures blocking the path. To get past them you need to equip and use your shield, holding it up and pushing the spiky monsters until you can move between them.
Once you reach the beach itself the sword is to the right of where you originally entered. Continue down the beach, past all of these obstacles, and you should see it sitting there, ready to be picked up. And that’s how to get the sword in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for Switch, but your journey is just beginning. Once you grab it an owl will explain that you need to head to the Mysterious Forest next. Once there you might find this guide on how to get past the raccoon pretty helpful.
