Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening – Where To Get Roc’s Feather

Dungeon items are a classic part of the Legend of Zelda formula, with you obtaining new an item for each dungeon that you usually have to use to make it through the rest of the dungeon. That is no different with The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, which follows this formula as well right from the beginning with the first dungeon in the game known as Tail Cave.

Make your way through part of Tail Cave going wherever you can and obtaining a few different small keys. After you obtain a few of them, start making your way forward and you will end up using them on a few doors. This will eventually bring you to a room where you have to face off against two spiny shelled enemies, which we discussed how to defeat in another guide.

From here, go down the stairs and you will be in a side-scrolling segment against Goombas. Yes, that’s not a typo, Goomba’s from the Mario series are here. Make your way through this room and up the ladder on the other side.

Once you’re back to the usual top down perspective in the next room, walk north and you’ll come across two blades with a treasure chest on the other side of them. Bait the blades to get them to come to the middle and when they start retreating to their original spot, run past and open the chest to get Roc’s Feather.

Roc’s Feather is a huge help in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, as it allows you to actually jump. Jumping is not something you get to do often in many of the Legend of Zelda games, so it’s always a treat to be able to do it.

You must equip Roc’s Feather to either Y or X first and then you can press the button to have Link jump in the air. This is very useful to get across gaps, including the many holes in the group you’ve seen so far in the game.
