How to Scan Your Face in NBA 2K22

Recommended Videos

NBA 2K22 is finally here, and fans use the face scan feature in the mobile app to create a custom appearance for their MyPlayer just like in past years. Starting fresh with MyPlayer is a yearly tradition, and creating a custom character is a really important part of the process. To speed things along though, you can use the face scan feature to create a character that looks just like you in a short amount of time. If you’ve done it for past NBA 2K titles, then you should already know how to do it this year. There are a few issues with the system right now though. Here’s how to scan your face in NBA 2K22 using the mobile app.

How to Use Face Scan in NBA 2K22

To use face scan in NBA 2K22, you need to download the MyNBA 2K22 app on Android or iOS. This app allows you to redeem locker codes, check your VC balance, and most importantly, use face scan to personalize your MyPlayer. The app is currently not available on Google Play or the iOS App Store though, so you’ll have to wait a few days before you can download it.

Once you have the app downloaded, set your MyPlayer account and connect it to both NBA 2K22 and the MyNBA2K22 mobile app. Then, select “Scan Your Face” in the app and follow the onscreen prompts. It works mostly the same as last year and the year before that, so you shouldn’t encounter any issues if you do everything correctly.

Once you scan your face in the app, your appearance data will be uploaded to 2K’s servers and it’ll show up in-game automatically. The face scan feature might not result in a good-looking face if you do a poor scan, so make sure you follow these tips to get the best possible quality:

  • Make sure your face is in even lighting from the front with as few shadows as possible.
  • Hold the phone at eye level.
  • Hold the phone around 18” from your face.
  • Turn your head slowly to a max of 45 degrees.
  • Look forward as you turn your head.
  • As you turn your head, make sure you are not just pointing your chin from side to side.

NBA 2K22 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
