When playing any PlayStation game these days, it’s a given that it’s going to come with a bunch of trophies for you to unlock as you play the game. While NieR: Automata is no different, the game actually has a way for you to buy these trophies rather than unlocking them through actual gameplay. It’s very weird (just like NieR), and this guide will show you how to do it.
Being able to access the secret in-game shop that sells the trophies doesn’t come easy, as you first need to complete 3 playthroughs of the game to complete the full story. Once you’ve done this, all you have to do is go to the game’s Resistance Camp and speak with the Strange Resistance Woman pictured above. When you speak with her a long list of options will appear on the screen, and one of them will say “Request unlocking you-know-what” at the bottom of it. Select that and it will unlock the trophy shop.
Now that you have the trophy shop open, you will see that all of the game’s trophies are available for a certain amount of money. The rarity of the trophy determines how much it costs to unlock, and each type of trophy costs the following:
- Bronze Trophies – 50,000
- Silver Trophies – 100,000
- Gold Trophies – 200,000
As you may have noticed, these trophies are not cheap and will require you to fork over some serious cash in order to get them all. However, seeing as trophies are unlocked forever as soon as you get them, you can actually game the system with your save file to get them all easily. Just upload your save file to the cloud, then spend all of the money that you currently have on trophies. Once you run out, reload the backed up save file and purchase trophies that you didn’t previously. Just keep repeating this formula until you have them all!
Sure, getting the Platinum trophy for NieR: Automata in this fashion may not be the most ethical thing you could do, but considering the novelty of it it’s something you need to at least try.
