Recommended Videos

You’ve probably heard of shiny Pokemon, but did you know that there are lucky Pokemon in Pokemon GO? Lucky Pokemon are much different than shiny Pokemon and in this guide, you’ll learn what they are and how to easily get one.

What are Lucky Pokemon?

Lucky Pokemon are special types of Pokemon you can only get by trading with your friends. Once you’ve added friends to your friend list in Pokemon GO, you can trade Pokemon with them. There is a chance that when you trade a Pokemon, it could be lucky. A lucky Pokemon is a Pokemon that permanently requires 50% less Stardust for evolutions. Depending on what evolution the traded Pokemon is at, a lucky Pokemon can save you a lot of Stardust.

How to Get Lucky Pokemon

As mentioned previously, the only way to get a lucky Pokemon is through trading. There are no special events or bonuses that boost lucky Pokemon rates, so it all comes down to your luck when trading. However, there is one surefire way to get a lucky Pokemon. Once you’ve been friends with someone for long enough and have made several trades, you will become best friends. The first trade made with a new best friend will always create a lucky Pokemon.

Besides that, the chances of getting a lucky Pokemon increase with when the Pokemon was caught. For instance, if you’ve caught a Pokemon in 2018, the chances of it becoming a lucky Pokemon are much higher than a Pokemon caught in 2022. For this reason, if you have a rare Pokemon that you want to trade, hold onto it to make its lucky chance go up.

Whether you’ve been holding onto a rare Pokemon for a while or you have just become best friends with someone, the Pokemon that you will want to prioritize for lucky Pokemon are shiny Pokemon. Shiny Pokemon can also become lucky Pokemon and having that rare combo is something that you’ll definitely want to secure if you can.

And that is everything you need to know about lucky Pokemon in Pokemon GO.
