Thankfully, Rockruff can actually be found on the very first island, Melemele Island. To find him, you’ll need to complete the first Grand Trial. This will grant you a Tauros, which you can use to ride around the island quickly. With the Tauros in your possession you can also now access some previously locked away areas, including one that is home to Rockruff.

You need to get to Ten Carat Hill. To do this, head home and hop on your Tauros. Move toward the South and go inside the cave that you find there. You’ll meet a man who will help guide you, but you need to be riding your Tauros, or you can’t make it through at all. Rocks block the path, so you need to use Tauros to break them down.

Eventually you’ll come upon a large grey stone cube, turn North and head out of the cave to Farthest Hollow. This is where to find Rockruff in Pokemon Sun and Moon.
