Alongside the earning of gym badges, catching Pokemon is the central task throughout the Pokemon franchise. There is a reason the slogan for the series in the West is “Gotta catch’ em all.” Some Pokemon are much harder to catch than others, with varying types of Poke Balls for you to use that can help increase your chances of catching them. Only one of those guarantees a catch 100% and this guide will detail just how you can get it in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
How To Get Master Ball
The Master Ball was introduced all the way back in Pokemon Red and Blue and has been a mainstay of the series ever since. This type of Poke Ball is always earned later in the game and is limited to one per game. That trend continues with Pokemon Sword and Shield, with you having to wait quite awhile to get this one.
After playing through the Champion Cup and defeating Leon, you will get a credits roll. However, Pokemon Sword and Shield are far from over at this point. From here, you will end up back in your house where you started off the game. Leave your room and you will see Professor Magnolia, who will speak with you and eventually hand over the Master Ball to you.
The timing of you getting the Master Ball here is pretty good, as this is the time you will also be starting to go on the hunt for the legendary Zacian or Zamazenta. You do not have to use the Master Ball on the legendary, but it definitely will make things a lot easier. You can also save it to use on any potential shinies you come across as well, so the choice is all yours.
