There are many different methods for evolving different Pikachu with the large number of Pikachu available these days, with evolution stones being one of the classic methods that dates all the way back to Pokemon Red and Blue. The Thunder Stone specifically is one you’re going to want to find in Pokemon Sword and Shield and this guide will detail where you can find one in the game.

Where To Get A Thunder Stone

You may think you’re going to have to wait awhile to find the Thunder Stone in Pokemon Sword and Shield, but it’s actually available pretty early on in the game with your very first visit to the Wild Area. This does not mean you can only find it during that time, as you can get it anytime from that point forward.

The area you need to go to find the Thunder Stone is going to be in the northeastern section of the first part you are able to visit in the Wild Area on your way to Motostoke. This first part of the Wild Area is split into smaller sections, which are named as soon as you enter then. For the purposes finding the Thunder Stone, you need to head to the North Lake Miloch area, which you can see on the map just under a bridge that you cannot pass your first time through.

While the item is in top right section of this first part of the Wild Area, the location marker you are going to want to look for here is the large rock formation you see in the distance in the above image, which is actually located in what is known as Giant’s Seat. You need to go north from that rock and go up on a hill you see there to where you place yourself with the rock formation in the distance.

Once you are up here, look for a patch of tall grass near the cliff and you will find a lone Poke Ball in between the tall grass and the edge. Interact with this Poke Ball and the Thunder Stone will now be yours.

Now that you have the Thunder Stone in tow, you can choose to evolve Pikachu into Raichu, Eevee into Jolteon, or Charjabug into Vikavolt.
