If you want to zip through the mountains and canyons of Riders Republic, you’ll need to unlock the wingsuit and air races. You’ll get a taster of the air races in the game’s opening sequence, but that doesn’t mean you have instant access in your career. This guide will break down what you need to take the skies and the quickest way to go about it.

You can technically take part in air races through online Mass Races once the Riders Ridge is unlocked. However, the air races in this mode are only a part of larger mixed-format events, so you’ll need to stick to your career to unlock the real thing.

How to Unlock the Wingsuit and Air Races

As you progress through the world of Riders Republic, you’ll get rewards for finishing races and completing secondary objectives with STARS. The more STARS you get, the more you can do. For instance, you need 11 to finish the game’s introduction and unlock the Riders Ridge hub. To earn your first wingsuit and compete in air races in Riders Republic, you’ll need to collect 30 STARS.

The quickest way of doing this is by playing through as many races as you can, as in most cases, you don’t need to win to get a STAR for completion. Admittedly, winning won’t be too difficult if you’re racing on Standard difficulty. You can go for the extra STARS offered for winning a race on Pro or Expert difficulty, but it is quite a challenge this early in the game. Fortunately, some of these secondary objectives can be easier than they seem, so make sure to keep an eye out for any easily completable targets.

Once you’ve got your 30 STARS, go to the map screen, and Brett will call to let you know you can now participate in air races. Complete the first of these, and more will unlock in different areas of the map. Like the cycling and alpine sports career lines, air races have their own big events and are probably some of the most exhilarating in the game. You’ll also unlock the air race equipment in the game’s Zen Mode for when you need a break from the intensity of competition.

With that, you should be able to hover over to the horizon to your heart’s extent in Riders Republic. If you’re looking for other tips and tricks in the game, head to our dedicated Riders Republic page for the latest news and guides.
