Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: How to Change the Difficulty in World of Light

At the beginning of your World of Light playthrough in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, you’ll be asked to choose a difficulty setting (Easy, Normal, or Hard). However, as you continue your adventure, you might find that battles are starting to be, or continuing to be, too hard (or maybe too easy). If this is the case, you’ll be happy to know that you can actually change the difficulty setting in the middle of your World of Light run, rather than having to start a whole new game in the mode to select a new difficulty at the beginning.

While you’re playing World of Light, press X or + to get to the pause menu. From here, select Options, which is the fourth, smaller option underneath Party, Manage Spirits, and Skill Tree. Once you’re in the Options menu, the first item that will show up will be your current difficulty setting. Select the difficulty with A, which will allow you to switch to a different difficulty.

Difficulty can be changed at any point in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s World of Light, so you might want to keep the difficulty on Normal, for example, and only switch it to Easy when you encounter a particularly tough fight, such as with a Legend-ranked Spirit, before switching back to Normal difficulty once you’ve won.
