Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: How to Rematch Challengers

“A New Challenger Approaches” is one of the sweetest things a Super Smash Bros. player can see. Yes, it means an epic fight is coming up, but it also means you are about to unlock a new character. At least, that’s what happens if you win. If you lose though, you are left with the shame of not gaining the new fighter. Or are you? Here’s how to rematch challengers in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

This isn’t an exploit or anything, Nintendo actually decided to build into the game a way to rematch challengers in SSBU. Once you fail your unlock fight against the challenger all you need to do is head to the main menu. From there choose Games & More, then look for the tiny door on the bottom right that reads “Challenger’s Approaching”. Pick this and you will be thrown right back into the fight against the same unlockable foe.

You can even do this if you’ve queued up a few of them. Each fighter will be there for you to beat and unlock in your game. Rematches used to require a bit more work, so this is a big improvement over SSB games of the past. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a ton of characters to unlock though, way more than we’ve see before from the series. Perhaps this is why they gave you this easy option for a rematch.  If you do fail to beat them on the rematch, you will need to check back on the Challenger’s Approach menu option as it will disappear for a short time period and then reappear later.

And that’s how to rematch challengers in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
