The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan – How To Play With Friends Online

The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan served as a worthy successor to Supermassive Games’ Until Dawn. Rather than being exclusively single player focused, this game added in a few different ways to play cooperatively. One of these allows you to play online with a friend and this guide will explain how you can access this feature.

When you first fire up The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan, you will be presented with a menu that has multiple different options. The first two of these are listed as “Don’t Play Alone” and “Play Alone.” If you had wanted to just do a single player playthrough, you could choose the Play Alone option, but that is not what we are trying to do here.

Make sure to select “Don’t Play Alone,” which will take you to yet another menu where you have options to select from. These two are “Shared Story” and “Movie Night,” so you will want to pick Shared Story to play online.

Once you select this, a menu will pop up asking you to invite a friend to the game session. Your friend can also invite you at this point instead, but either way you both need to get into the party here. From there, you have to choose your starting point. If this is your first time playing together, you will have to start from the beginning. When starting at the beginning, you also have to select if you want to start as Joe or Charlie, with the other player getting the one not chosen. If you have played together prior, you can select a later chapter to start at if you so choose.

After selecting your options, you will jump right into the beginning of The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan. After the introduction, both players will rotate around between each of the main five as you play through the entire story and experience even more cutscenes than the solo campaign.
