It’s the most iconic weapon in all of gaming. The Master Sword has been a part of The Legend of Zelda since the beginning, and as the games have continued it has only become more important. It’s the blade you need in order to truly defeat Ganon, and it plays a big role once again in Breath of the Wild. However, the open nature of the new game doesn’t point you toward the Master Sword like the previous games did. So we’re here with a couple of guides for it. Here’s where to find the Master Sword in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

As expected from both the images that we’ve seen so far and the general theme of the Master Sword’s many locations, it can be found deep within a forest. To find this forest you simply need to head toward Hyrule Castle. The Master Sword is hidden deep within the Kokiri Forest, which is just east of the castle. You’ll know it when you see it, but look for a large forest that is shrouded in mist and fog.

This area of the game isn’t quite as open as the rest, locking you into the Lost Woods, which you have to navigate using various methods. We’ve put together a special guide for this, which you can read through right here. Once you are through the Lost Woods you’ll come to the heart of the Kokiri Forest, with the Great Deku Tree watching over a pedestal that contains the Master Sword.

The Great Deku Tree will explain to you that the Master Sword is waiting for the one who is worthy to wield it. That is obviously you, but you’ll still have to prove it. You can go ahead and try to pull the Master Sword from the pedestal, but you will almost certainly fail. Want to know how to get the Master Sword in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild? We’ve got a guide for that too.
