The Surge 2: How to Turn on Gear Lights

There are some dark areas in The Surge 2 and you may have no idea you have a rig light thanks to an easily missed tutorial.

Press down on the d-pad, or the R key to turn on your rig lights.

Yep, you can blast right past the tutorial for this one, so don’t feel bad if you’ve been running around in the dark for ages, cursing the lack of illumination.  Anytime you do want to shed some light on your surroundings you’ll just want to press down on the d-pad (controller) or press the R Key on keyboard to bring up your lights.  The lights on your rig will give you an instantly better view of the world when you’re working your way through the darker areas of the game.

The rig lights are not perfect: they are physical assets on your armor, so the light will point only where you’re facing, not where your camera is oriented. Still, having a flashlight of sorts is better than nothing at all, right?
