It looks like Amazon Game Studios are making huge moves to become relevant in the gaming industry, and fast. As many know, Crytek had been going through financial struggles last year and even as far as not being able to pay their own employees in some situations. Now it seems things are looking up for the developer as a deal has reportedly been struck between them and Amazon Game Studios.

According to sources over at Kotaku, Amazon Game Studios bailed developer, Crytek out of a hole by purchasing their engine for what has been rumored to be around $50-70 Million. It allowed the company to not only pay their employees but to become financially stable. No deal has been officially announced but last month Crytek developers teased that a huge deal had been signed. So much so in fact that Crytek co-founder, Faruk Yerli stated;

“It was a huge one, probably the biggest one, I can’t say anything more in detail, but hopefully we’ll be able to announce it with the partner soon.”

No idea what Amazon Game Studios would do with the CryEngine yet, but the fact they have been making moves to buy out former Killer Instinct developer Double Helix and signed deals with Portal lead developer, Kim Swift and well known Far Cry 2 designer, Clint Hocking just means one thing. Amazon Game Studios is planning something big and it may not just be limited to the Amazon Fire TV that they released to some lukewarm gaming appeal. Oh and lets not forget they did buy Twitch so, they really want gamers attention.
