A few days ago we showed you a new trailer for Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux that featured a thrilling Metroidvania-style of videogame. While the company originally tagged the video as a publicity stunt, today the Atlus Japan has actually released that game as a free PC download for all fans until December 24. The official title of the game is Shin Megami Tensei: Synchronicity Prologue, and it allows players to take control of Jack Frost and Jack O’Lantern in order to use their exclusive abilities to go through each of the levels of the game.

As showcased in the trailer, what makes this pair of unlikely heroes so much fun to control is their personal way to face situations, with Jack O’Lantern being able to launch aerial attacks, while Jack Frost specializes in fighting on the ground. The game certainly has enough charm to be enjoyed by everyone, but of course, it will be fans of the series the ones who will take more pleasure out of the experience.

The development team of Synchronicity Prologue have also been involved in other PC titles like Pharaoh: Rebirth +. The system requirements for the game include having Windows 7 or higher, Intel Core 2 Duo, Direct3D 9, 500MB RAM, DirectX Version 5.2, and 80MB of free space. The key configuration is Z to jump, X to attack, C to use a skill, V to switch characters, the space bar to pause the game, and the arrow keys to move the character.

You can download the game from here, and remember that it will be free only until December 24.
