Earlier today Bethesda began a countdown for something Fallout related. Fallout.bethsoft.com is currently hosting a timer for what many believe to be the official announcement of Fallout 4, and Bethesda has included a little Easter Egg in the source code of the site.
Near the bottom of the source code for the countdown timer a page error div references Masterbrain. Here’s what it reads:
“PA system failure has occurred.
Shutdown of the Masterbrain has been authorized and all sensitive materials have been removed for security purposes.
Please attempt to re-access. Have a pleasant day.”
Most odd about the countdown is that Bethesda is hosting a press conference at E3 2015. Something they don’t regularly do. Why they are choosing to announce something Fallout related ahead of this major event is a little weird. Perhaps they’re afraid of information leaking early.
Regardless, people have been pouring over the site’s source code and have found a couple of smoking guns that have this looking like it will indeed be Fallout 4. This includes javascripting that references fallout4.com and the site with countdown timer currently in place.
