Blood Bowl 2 – First Look

For many years, if you wanted to play an American Football game, Madden NFL was really your only real choice. Ever since the NFL 2K series was discontinued, we’ve been saddled with annual editions of Madden games that, generally, had minimal improvements over the previous year’s. Now, however, it seems like we have a new challenger taking to the field in Blood Bowl 2.

To be fair, it’s not a perfect recreation of American football. You’re unlikely to be running QB sneaks, a zone running offensive scheme or running out routes with your receivers. As a simulation of American football, Blood Bowl 2 would not be entirely accurate. And that’s not because the teams are made up of fantastical creatures such as orcs, dwarves, goblins and elves. Sure there’s the oblong ball, kickoffs and cheerleaders in skimpy outfits, but with a lot more fighting and violence then the normal Madden fan would be accustomed to.

It’s supposed to be a comedic and arcadey bit of fun combining football, cartoon violence and a fantastical setting that will be sure to give a bit of variety to the genre. Touchdowns and beating the brains out of your opponent will be key to your team lifting the Blood Bowl!

Blood Bowl 2 is set to be released sometime in 2015 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
