Bungie have announced that Peter Dinklage will not reprise his role as The Ghost in the upcoming expansion for Destiny, The Taken King. He has since been replaced by Nolan North, who is best known for voicing Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series.

“I was really excited to do this role,” North told Game Informer. “You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There’s a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it.”

“I was really excited to do this role.”

North was brought in to voice The Ghost for The Taken King DLC, but Bungie decided to re-record all of The Ghost’s dialogue in the game, meaning Peter Dinklage will no longer feature in any capacity.

“We wanted Nolan North’s version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty,” says creative director Luke Smith.

North commented that he purposely avoided listening to Peter Dinklage’s interpretation of The Ghost to better allow him to stamp his authority on the character.

“They really wanted me to put my stamp on it,” North adds. “They let me bring what I wanted to the role. You have to give it your own spin. For that reason, I specifically said I didn’t want to hear anything that someone else had done, so that I didn’t have some preconceived notion of what it has to be. Instead, I just gave it my stamp, and let them direct me accordingly.”

Destiny: The Taken King will feature new weapons, quests and raids, and is scheduled to release on September 15th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
