Dataminers Discover New Pokémon in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are almost here, less than two weeks from release. However, some dataminers who somehow got their hands on some early copies have been going through the games’ files and have discovered some interesting developments. While I will only be discussing new Pokémon and not leaked story points in this article, keep in mind that SPOILERS are abound, so you should only continue reading if you don’t mind learning about new Pokémon whose information has been kept secretive by Nintendo, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company.

It is common knowledge by this point that Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will have new Ultra Beasts that didn’t appear in the original Sun and Moon. New information about these new Ultra Beasts, as well as info about an unannounced one, has been discovered by dataminers. Fans may remember from Sun and Moon that Ultra Beasts have code names as well as actual names. It was discovered that UB Assembly’s actual name is Stakataka, UB Burst’s actual name is Blacephalon and UB Adhesive’s actual name is Poipole. Additionally, Poipole will apparently be the first and only Ultra Beast to be able to evolve. If Poipole levels up while knowing the move Dragon Pulse, it will evolve into the Dragon/Poison-Type Ultra Beast Naganadel. Also, Poipole will apparently be a “gift Pokémon.” It is not currently clear whether this means that the player will be gifted a Poipole in-game or if players will have to receive one through Mystery Gift.

A new Legendary Pokémon was also discovered called Zeraora. This Pokémon is an Electric-Type and is expected to be an event-only Pokémon that players will have to receive through Mystery Gift or QR code, though this has not been confirmed. Also, Necrozma is being reported as having yet another form, separate from the already confirmed Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings forms. This new form will apparently be called Necrozma’s “Light” form and will reportedly be stronger than Mega Rayquaza, making it one of the strongest, if not the strongest, Pokémon of all time.
