Destiny 2 First Week Sales Disappoint in Japan

Recommended Videos

Bungie’s Destiny 2 continues its string of number 1 debuts in different markets, following its entry in the United Kingdom charts with a similar position in Japan, according to Media Create. However, just like in the UK, the game has suffered a steep drop from the launch sales of the previous entry, only achieving about 40% of what Destiny sold in 2014 when it released on PS3 and PS4.

These lower than expected numbers are likely caused by many fans who felt disappointed by the first entry, which took a handful of expansions to start getting universal praise. Luckily, this sequel seems to fix all those aspects and present an all-out great experience, as we not in our review, so maybe it’s only a matter of time that the fanbase gives this another chance.

The other important release of the week was Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 for Nintendo Switch, a late port from the PS4/Xbox One game that has had a modest release, although it seems like it sold most of the copies distributed to stores.

On the hardware chart, Nintendo Switch retains the number one spot despite lowering its numbers from last week. PS4 follows in the rank with a small bump in sales thanks to the launch of the Glacier White PS4 Pro.
