DoorDash driver who went viral for exposing a customer is now facing serious criminal charges of her own

According to Dexerto, Henderson became well known online back in October when she recorded video of a customer during a no-contact delivery. In the clip, the man was sleeping on his couch without pants. She later told people online that she reported what happened and lost her job at DoorDash because of it.

The DoorDash driver who went viral for exposing a customer is now facing serious criminal charges of her own. She has been charged with one felony count of Unlawful Surveillance 2nd Degree and one misdemeanor count of Dissemination of an Unlawful Surveillance Image. Both charges are connected to filming and posting images from inside someone’s house without asking them first. She has to appear in court on December 4.

Things ended up getting messier than anyone thought

Police records from October 12 show that Henderson called 911 because she thought she saw a crime. She told officers that “the customer’s front door was wide open when she arrived and that he was ‘sleeping on the couch with no pants on.'”

The customer, who only went by the name Austin, told police he had been drinking the night before. He woke up and did not know he was exposed, and he said sorry because he thought he had shorts on.

Officers decided no crime happened since Austin was in his own house and did not mean to show himself to anyone outside. They closed the case that day. Posts on social media later explained that being naked in your own home is not against the law in New York unless you are trying to show yourself to people outside on purpose.

DoorDash put out a statement saying Henderson did not lose her account for reporting a problem. The company said “the driver was not deactivated for reporting a safety concern but for posting video filmed inside a customer’s home without consent, which violates the platform’s privacy rules.”

DoorDash also said they gave police the information they needed and let Henderson keep the money she earned. This is not the first time a DoorDash driver has gone viral for discovering something unusual while on the job.

Workers in customer service jobs often deal with tough situations, and workers have been increasingly vocal about customer behavior that crosses the line. Henderson has not said anything publicly about being arrested. Her last post on social media was on October 16, just a few days after everything started.
