Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Tops Sales in Japan

Recommended Videos

If two days ago we reported that Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age was the best selling game of the week in the UK, today Media Create reveals that the game has made the same accomplishment in Japan. This remastered version of the PS2 classic has come slightly above predictions, with numbers that seem definitely positive for a version that in the end doesn’t offer as much new content for Japanese audiences than those fans in the West, as it is based in the Japan-exclusive International Zodiac Job System re-release.

The good result from The Zodiac Age was also good news for PS4, which increased its sales about 7.000 units from last week. The console had a serious risk to fall under the sales of PS3 in the same period, a danger which seems to be left behind now that the release of Dragon Quest XI is imminent.

On the Nintendo side, Nintendo 3DS took the spotlight thanks to the release of the New Nintendo 2DS XL in the country, along with games like Hey! Pikmin or Ever Oasis. The portable console takes the lead in the hardware chart, outperforming its younger relative the Nintendo Switch, which is still not giving signs of putting an end to its stock issues. However, Nintendo is expected to send a big shipment of consoles to stores in order to satisfy the surge of demand for Splatoon 2.
