Today is a major day for Nintendo fans as the release of the New Nintendo 3DS XL is here, along with The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. While the two basic models of the New Nintendo 3DS are expected to be widespread and rather easy to find at most stores beginning today, the special edition models are not the case. The most sought after of the bunch is the Majora’s Mask New Nintendo 3DS XL, so we thought we’d give you some details on just how you may be able to acquire one this morning.
First of all, GameStop stores are reportedly not getting any copies of the handheld in stores, so there is no point to even bother trying those today. Your best best is likely going to be Target from a nationwide point of view, as most stores are confirmed to at least have a few at opening. Naturally, these will be first-come, first-serve, so make sure to be there prior to opening or at actual opening at the latest.
For those that have Fry’s Electronics in your area, they are also supposed to have some today for sale. That information comes from their official Twitter account a few weeks ago and at least one person on Reddit has said their store has four to sell, but your mileage may vary.
Some have reported that Walmart had them in their system as well, but that does not mean that any stores actually got any. With no one reporting getting one on Reddit on the east coast in the three hours since midnight, it is not looking good however. There is also no word on whether Toys R Us will have any or not, but the odds aren’t too great at this point.
Taking everything into account, Target and Fry’s are the only two retailers confirmed to be getting any of these in store tomorrow. As a result, your best option to secure this extremely limited edition Majora’s Mask New 3DS XL is to try one of those two stores by arriving there at opening or before. Make sure to let us know in the comments below if you were successful at getting one and how early you went to camp out before opening.
