As a resident of the United States, and the owner of a PlayStation Network account, you are entitled to the free identity theft program that Sony has initiated in the wake of the security breach of the PSN.  As promised, Sony will begin covering customers with the free service that will protect your sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands, and if it does, they’ll cover you with their insurance plan.

The program was announced on the PlayStation Blog, earlier yesterday, and sign-ups for the program have begun.  You can begin the sign-up process through this link to Sony’s U.S. based web portal.

“As previously announced, Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment have made arrangements with Debix to offer the AllClear ID PLUS identity theft protection program to PlayStation Network and Qriocity customers who are concerned about identity theft following the criminal cyber attack on the network. AllClear ID PLUS is a premium identity protection service that uses advanced technology to deliver alerts to help protect you from identity theft.”

Working together with AllClear ID Plus, the service will deliver alerts to help keep you safe in the event of further attacks.
